I am thrilled to share some exciting news that will undoubtedly enhance our educational environment and foster community engagement. This summer, the Demarest School District is embarking on a new construction project that will bring remarkable improvements to our middle school, making it a hub for both academic and community activities. To support this project, the Demarest Board of Education will allocate funds through lease purchase financing and from capital reserve as a result of being fiscally responsible.
Gym/Nurse Suite Transformation:
The upcoming renovations to DMS will not only add a regulation-size gym, but it will also include the addition of a state-of-the-art nurse's suite. This enhancement aligns with our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our students, ensuring their well-being is our top priority.
Community Collaboration:
What makes this project truly special is our commitment to opening up the gym for community use. We envision the renovated space as a versatile facility that can be utilized by various groups within Demarest, fostering a sense of togetherness and shared experiences. With the new gym, the Demarest Athletic Association will have four gyms to utilize throughout the year. Additionally, we look forward to the opportunity for the new space to be a possible shelter in the event of a community emergency.
Timeline:
We understand that you may be eager to know when these improvements will take place. With construction commencing in the summer of 2024, it is our goal that the construction will be complete in September 2025 for the opening of the school year.
