Superintendent's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we embark on the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you: students, parents, educators, support staff, and administrators. I appreciate your tireless efforts and commitment to the success of our students and the prosperity of our school district.

During this holiday season, I am delighted to share news and happenings within our school community. At County Road School, we are happy to report that the addition to the playground is underway. Thanks to the generosity of our PTO, we were able to increase the size of the playground for our kindergarten and first grade students to enjoy.  Our Special Education teachers at Luther Lee Emerson School (LLE)  worked with students on Project Green Plantings.  They purchased plantings from local nurseries and helped to beautify the main entrance of our building. During the Week of Respect, our CRS and LLE students and families came together to collect food for those in need. Each grade level was assigned a different item in hopes of filling the shelves at the Center for Food Action in Englewood.  We are so proud that each school filled over one dozen boxes to help feed our neighbors.

At Demarest Middle School (DMS), KARE Club raised $300 for the Susan G Komen Foundation through a bake sale and selling bracelets. The club also wrote letters to active duty soldiers serving overseas and are currently making holiday goody bags for first responders and hosting a coat drive for Jersey Cares. Recently, our Student Council collected over 150 food items for the Center for Food Action, providing emergency food packages to those who are in need of assistance.

Finally, as we enter 2024, we are beyond excited to announce we will begin to build a brand new gymnasium at DMS in the summer of 2024. We just received the new bids for the project and we will be able to incorporate the financing within our general annual budget. The board of education will be securing financing in early January. Please join us on January 2nd for the public hearing to discuss the financing of the project.

As you enjoy your well-deserved break to spend time with loved ones, recharge, and reflect on the past year, let us also extend our thoughts and compassion to those who may be facing challenges during this season. May the spirit of kindness and generosity guide us in reaching out to those in need and creating a supportive community for all.

On behalf of the entire administration, I want to wish each and every one of you a joyous holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and moments of genuine connection. May this time of celebration bring you peace, happiness, and cherished memories.
